"Min Al Turab | من التراب" (From the Soil)

“Min Al Turab” is an experimental photographic series using soil from my village in South Lebanon as pigment in gum dichromate printing. The photos were taken in Spring 2023, before war reshaped the land. The soil, gathered after the destruction, holds the altered reality of a wounded land. The title comes from a sacred verse “From The Soil And To The Soil” often heard in both daily speech and religious context. It evokes mortality, origin, and return. In our region, soil is not just land to fight or die for; it forms who we are. It tempers our endurance and becomes part of our internal fabric. As an artist, I see land as both medium and witness, a living archive. These Prints are small-scale samples. If selected, I will create larger works to reflect the processes depth and materiality.
