FLOATING BONDS is a journey into the world of thousands of curious seahorses that inhabit the aquariums of a farm in Australia. Founded by a biologist, the farm was originally intended to breed seahorses for the Chinese market in order to help secure their survival in the wild. Unfortunately, the project did not succeed, and today the animals are sold for aquariums around the world. This ancient creature is considered a barometer of the seas — the males become pregnant, they can adapt their color to their surroundings, and even change gender in times of need. With her overpainted and re-drawn photographs, accompanied by a book publication, Regina Anzenberger has created a fascinating manifesto for this mysterious marine being — somewhere between alien and unicorn.
