The Rocketgirl Chronicles is an analog photography project born during Melbourne’s extensive lockdowns, a moment that echoed a small-scale extinction. As freedoms and human contact have vanished, a child in a handmade space suit wandered empty streets and parks, reimagining the world with empathy and wonder. These portraits offer a quiet meditation on renewal, where life after collapse begins not with conquest but with connection. Shot on medium-format film (Mamiya RZ67, Fuji Pro 400H, hand-developed), the tactile process mirrors the project’s reflective tone. In the face of loss, Rocketgirl suggests that survival must be paired with story, play, and the human drive to reinvent and feel alive again.
