Entangled Shadows: Mordançage at the Edge of Coherence

What does ‘life after extinction’ mean at the quantum scale? This project explores quantum computing hardware through experimental darkroom techniques, revealing strange afterlives in our advanced technologies. Through mordançage and lith printing, I transform photographs of quantum systems into visceral representations of coherence, collapse, and emergence.
Each print undergoes chemical interventions that fracture the emulsion—artifacts echoing quantum decay. The mordançage process kills the surface yet reveals hidden dimensions. As quantum states decay through decoherence, these prints decay through chemistry, making visible the invisible process of death and rebirth.
The work documents parallel decay: quantum decoherence, and chemical entropy.
A Risograph zine accompanies.

about the artist
Through experimental darkroom techniques, artist-physicist Jorden Senior explores how analogue processes can echo the instability of quantum systems. His work probes the material afterimages of technology, entropy, and impermanence.
