For the past four years, I’ve been moving from one flat to another across regions. During this time, war conflicts have only intensified, taking thousands of lives. These events often lead me to reflect on the possible end of humanity.
I began imagining forests, deserts, and marshes slowly reclaiming the space of my rented flats. Everywhere I once lived for a long period, I had that vision. This apocalyptic perspective unexpectedly gave me hope.
Yes, humans have created complex and beautiful civilisations. But most of the societies often exclude those who don’t quite fit. That’s why I find images from Chernobyl so captivating—where new bacteria are being discovered, or where an unusually large salmon was recently spotted.
They’ll be fine without us. We won’t be fine without them.
