CARBON PRINTING

Carbon printing is considered as the king of all photographic printing processes. The translucency of pigmented gelatin gives carbon print a unique look of silky tonality. We will be doing a single layer, single transfer carbon print process. We will be using traditional sensitizers, but with the workflow that will be optimized to use the least amount of sensitizer and during the processing we will be neutralizing it immediately, thus reducing environmental impact.
Carbon printing is a contact copy process and we will be using 4×5″ negatives. You will be given the film negatives upon which carbon tissues will be calibrated, but these negatives will remain with you as a reference for your own work.
