EXPERIMENTAL AND SUSTAINABLE PHOTO BOOKS USING CAMERA-LESS PHOTOGRAPHY

AINDREAS SCHOLZ (UK/DE)

Join photographer and researcher Aindreas Scholz for a two-day experimental workshop exploring sustainable, cameraless photographic practices and handmade photobook making.
Dates: Saturday 22 November & Sunday 23 November 2025
Time: 11:00 – 17:00
Fee: €140 (materials included)
Participants: Up to 10 (minimum 2 registrations required)

This practical and creative workshop invites participants, both beginners and advanced, to explore eco-adapted photographic techniques using natural materials such as sunlight, seawater, and plant matter.

Day One: Participants will be introduced to cameraless image-making through the cyanotype process. Guided by Aindreas Scholz, they will experiment with papers, composition, texture, and tonality to produce a series of unique, site-responsive prints suitable for bookmaking.

Day Two: Under the joint guidance of Aindreas Scholz and a professional bookbinder (TBC), participants will learn how to transform their unique prints into a tangible, sustainable, and handcrafted photobook. The session covers sequencing, editing, layout, and simple, low-impact binding techniques.

What to Expect

  • Learn sustainable cameraless printing methods using sunlight, water, and eco-friendly photographic chemistry.
  • Experiment with environmentally-friendly materials and found objects.
  • Develop an understanding of narrative and visual flow in book form.
  • Gain hands-on experience in binding and book assembly.
  • Leave with your own completed handmade photobook and practical skills for future projects.
