LUMEN X is a self-organised, open photo lab in Vienna, supported by a diverse community of artists, activists and self-taught photographers. The exhibition shows analog works created between the darkroom, exchange and improvisation. It reflects photographic processes and social realities: as a lab in precarious circumstances, we work with limited resources but great dedication. Our practice is based on solidarity-based knowledge transfer, shared resources and the attempt to create a sustainable space for analog image production beyond commercial logic. Put on the red light reveals what otherwise remains in the dark: collective work, experimental techniques and the political dimension of analog photography.
The open photo lab »Lumen X« is an artistic workshop at WUK that offers workspaces and a lab community for photographers working with analog technology. Through its exhibition activities, the association aims to raise the profile of analog photography and its craft.
