Traces of Control

“Traces of Control” examines environments shaped by human intervention. The photographs focus on ordinary places where nature is organized, contained, adapted or replaced according to human needs. Trees are supported and positioned, grass is maintained, objects imitate or regulate natural forms and architectural structures determine how a space can be used. The series does not show control as something absolute but focuses on the small and often unnoticed ways it shapes our surroundings. Arrangements, surfaces and functional objects are visible traces of these decisions.

The use of analog photography adds another layer. Grain, light, texture and accidental imperfections remain part of the images, introducing elements that cannot be completely controlled. The photographic process contrasts with the environments shown.

The series reflects on how human control becomes embedded in everyday surroundings through subtle structures, arrangements and modifications that determine how spaces look, function and are experienced.
