The series explores the creation of photographic images at the intersection of analog and digital systems. It takes as its starting point images produced on analog sheet film using a repurposed camera obscura. In the process, the photographic objects lose their representational legibility and appear as autonomous pictorial forms, situated between organic structure and abstract form. Digital guide lines, surveying structures and scanner interference are not corrected, but are integrated as visible components of the image. This gives rise to hybrid pictorial spaces in which analog traces, digital artefacts and material processes are inextricably intertwined.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Vera Nowottny PhD, geb. 1970 in Bad Neustadt, Fotografin u. bildende Künstlerin. Studium Kommunikationsdesign, Auslandssemester in Chile, arbeitete als freischaffende Fotografin und promoviete am Bauhaus in Kunst und Design.
