Forests in Germany are increasingly vulnerable. This project documents the Taunus’ forests decline, raising questions about the future of our forests. Climate change impacts are getting more visible every year and could become more severe. Periods of heat and drought weaken trees, aiding pests and making them vulnerable to storms, especially in monocultures. Natural, diverse forests are best suited to resist climate change, yet economic interests favor profitable monocultures. By reshaping forests for economic gain, humans risk destroying it. Until a natural forest reclaims these areas.
