“In Search of the Miraculous” explores the connections between human and non-human entities that extend beyond the mere presence of physical things. The work seeks to make visible the supernatural that lies hidden within nature. It opens a view onto a world behind appearances — one shaped by the magic of relationships and the invisible entanglements that run through them.
The starting point is analog photographs, which are manually manipulated and transformed in the darkroom. Through these interventions, images of nature take on a supernatural, surreal, and magical quality. The deliberate overextension of photographic darkroom techniques points to an invisible form of communication between entities: to hidden dependencies and interconnections that surround us and, often unnoticed, form part of who we are.
Hauser’s images thus open up a psychological, political, and philosophical perspective on human action —nd on its manifold effects on life on this Earth. The title evokes a long-standing engagement with the wondrous and the transcendent in contemporary art.
